I really like wine events but sometimes it is good to mix things up a bit. Rather than a wine & cheese event, I'd like to have a martini event sampling select martinis made from different vodkas. I'm having a mental block on what kind of appetizer would go well with the event. Suggestions?

Is there a particular Keebler cracker that you like?

Townhouse crackers.

I'd also recommend stuffed mushrooms, but just about anything would go well. In general, I find salty foods compliment a good martini -although to me, a good martini is Sapphire or Hendricks gin - never vodka :)

As a kid I always loved the sound of a gin & tonic as a drink. Just seemed very classy. Unfortunately, no matter how many times I've tried, I've never developed a taste for gin. Who knows, I've only recently developed a taste for olives in another form than oil, so that taste for gin may be just around the corner!!!

At the risk of exposing my snobbishness, in my experience, it's all about the quality. Anyone who ever says they "don't like gin" has never tried the good stuff (i.e. Sapphire or Hendricks). I wouldn't touch most of the rest of the stuff either, and I consider myself a gin afficionado. I strongly recommned Hendricks - it's very unique having cucumber incorporated into the mix. A Hendricks martini with a slice of cucumber is sublime. - One last thing, keep your gin in the freezer -has to be ice cold.

I've never heard of Hendricks. I'll give it a try. Not promising anything, though! lol

I always keep my vodka in the freezer! It wouldn't know what to think if I put it anywhere else.
